Silver Lake State Park Modern Campground sits on nearly 3,000 acres along Michigan's western coast, offering 200 campsites with electrical service in a primarily shaded setting. Sites 1-13 provide direct access to the park's inland Silver Lake, where registered campers can moor boats in the shallow waters. The campground serves as a convenient base for exploring the park's diverse recreational opportunities, including 3 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, 2,000 acres of dramatic sand dunes, and the 450-acre Silver Lake ORV Area, which is the only motorized sand dune riding opportunity east of the Mississippi River. The campground is within walking distance of the day-use area on Silver Lake, which features a buoyed swim area, picnic facilities, and an accessible playground. Beyond the campground, visitors can explore pedestrian-only dune areas, visit the historic Little Sable Point Lighthouse built in 1874, or take advantage of seasonal activities like fat-tire biking in winter months. The park offers modern restroom facilities, a sanitation station with potable water, and various amenities designed for accessibility. Fishing is popular on Silver Lake during nonsummer months, with the lake stocked with walleye. Pets are welcome along the Lake Michigan shoreline and most areas of Silver Lake outside the designated swim beach.
