Hodgdon Meadow Campground

Open — Open year-round. Reservations required mid-April through early October via Recreation.gov. First-come, first-served mid-October through mid-April. Reservations available up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST and typically sell out within minutes.

Hodgdon Meadow Campground is located just inside Yosemite National Park's Big Oak Flat Entrance along Highway 120, positioned at 4,875 feet elevation in a mixed conifer forest. The campground features 105 sites nestled among Red fir, incense-cedar, Ponderosa pine, and Lodgepole pine, providing a pleasant combination of sun and shade. Sites accommodate tents, RVs up to 35-40 feet, and trailers up to 27-30 feet, though not every site can fit larger equipment. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring Yosemite, situated 25 miles (45 minutes) from Yosemite Valley. Nearby attractions include the Tuolumne and Merced Groves of Giant Sequoias, accessible via 2.5 to 3-mile roundtrip trails. The White Wolf area on Tioga Road offers additional hiking opportunities. A gas station and small general store are available eight miles away at Crane Flat. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage locker. The campground provides flush toilets and potable water year-round but has no showers, hookups, or cell phone coverage. A dump station is available in Yosemite Valley. Vibrant wildflowers fill nearby meadows each summer, and the area offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography, and accessing Yosemite's famous landmarks including Half Dome, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls.

Directions

From Highway 120 west, Hodgdon Meadow Campground is located immediately on the left after entering Yosemite National Park through the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station. From Yosemite Valley, take Big Oak Flat Road northwest approximately 26 miles to the park entrance; the campground is on the right just before exiting the park.
