About

Dirt Flat Campground sits on the north side of the Merced River within Sierra National Forest, offering a secluded camping experience for those seeking proximity to Yosemite National Park without the crowds. All seven campsites are walk-in tent sites positioned along or near the river, shaded by oak and pine trees. The remote setting makes this an ideal spot for a quiet retreat. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings at each site. Bear-proof food storage containers are required. There is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no trash service. The area is known for white water rafting and kayaking during spring and early summer, with several outfitters offering guided trips on the Merced River. The campground is accessible via paved roads and sites meet accessibility standards. Maximum stay is 14 days with a limit of 6 people per site. Be aware of rattlesnakes and poison oak in the area.
