About
Dry Gulch Campground sits on the north side of the Merced River within the Bass Lake Ranger District of Sierra National Forest. The small, secluded campground features five walk-in tent sites, most with direct river access. Pine and oak trees provide shade throughout the camp, creating a quiet and peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds. The campground offers basic amenities including picnic tables, grills, and fire rings at each site, along with vault toilets. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. Sites meet accessibility standards with paved road access. During spring and early summer, the Merced River is popular for whitewater rafting and kayaking. The campground's proximity to Yosemite National Park's west entrance makes it a convenient base for exploring the park. Bear-proof food storage is required, and rattlesnakes and poison oak are present in the area.
Directions
From Mariposa, travel north 26 miles on Highway 140 to Foresta Road. Turn left, travel 1/10 mile, turn left again onto Incline Road, and continue 1.3 miles to the campground.
