About

Crane Flat Campground is situated at 6,200 feet elevation in Yosemite National Park, approximately 17 miles northwest of Yosemite Valley along the Big Oak Flat Road. After a four-year closure for complete rehabilitation, the campground reopened with 151 redesigned campsites that accommodate tents, RVs up to 35 feet, and trailers up to 27 feet. The campground is located 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station on Highway 120. The area is forested with stands of sugar pine, red fir, and lodgepole pine, along with vanilla-scented Jeffrey pine and picturesque western juniper. Vibrant summer wildflowers fill the open meadows nearby. Each campsite contains a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food storage locker measuring 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high. The campground features paved roads and parking spurs, flush toilets, and seasonal drinking water. There is no electricity in the campground, which means no lights in the restrooms. Crane Flat is strategically located between the Tuolumne and Merced Groves of Giant Sequoias, both requiring a 2.5 to 3-mile roundtrip hike to view. Yosemite Valley is just 30 minutes away, offering access to waterfalls, granite cliffs, hiking trails, and ranger-led activities. The Tioga Road provides scenic drives to Tuolumne Meadows and high-country destinations. A gas station and small general store are located nearby at Crane Flat.
