Christmas Tree Cutting Permits Information: [Recreation.gov][1] Christmas Tree cutting permits will go on sale on Friday, October 10, 2025. Christmas trees are $10.00 each and there is a maximum of two (2) trees per permit for a total of $20.00. Fourth graders can use their Every Kid Outdoors pass to obtain one (1) free tree. There is an additional $2.50 reservation fee for all permits. Tree cutting dates are Friday, November 28, 2025, through Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Sweetwater Campground is located in a mixed conifer forest setting along Highway 120 in Stanislaus National Forest, approximately 15 miles east of Groveland and in close proximity to Yosemite National Park. The campground offers 12 single camping units with paved interior roads and spurs, making it accessible for both tent campers and RVs up to 32 feet in length. Each campsite is equipped with essential camping furniture including a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear box for secure food storage. The campground provides accessible vault toilets and potable well water piped to three faucets throughout the facility during the operating season. The forest setting provides a peaceful atmosphere while maintaining convenient highway access. Nearby attractions include Rainbow Pools just 0.8 miles away with hiking opportunities, Preston Fall Trailhead 7.3 miles away offering a 4.5-mile hike, Carlon Day Use Area 9.8 miles distant, and Buck Meadow 3.1 miles from the campground. The campground's location makes it an ideal base for exploring the western approaches to Yosemite National Park.
