Christmas Tree Cutting Permits Information: [Recreation.gov][1] Christmas Tree cutting permits will go on sale on Friday, October 10, 2025. Christmas trees are $10.00 each and there is a maximum of two (2) trees per permit for a total of $20.00. Fourth graders can use their Every Kid Outdoors pass to obtain one (1) free tree. There is an additional $2.50 reservation fee for all permits. Tree cutting dates are Friday, November 28, 2025, through Wednesday, December 31, 2025. About
Lost Claim Campground sits at 3,100 feet elevation in a shaded mixed conifer forest along Highway 120, making it an ideal base camp for families and groups exploring the region. Located just 15 miles from Yosemite National Park's northwest boundary, the campground offers convenient access to world-class attractions while maintaining a tranquil, forested setting. The campground features 10 sites suited for tent camping, with sites 1, 7, and 8 also accommodating tent trailers. Each site includes a picnic table, bear-proof food storage box, and campfire ring with grill. The Little Golden Forest Trail provides a half-mile interpretive loop with an optional two-mile extension, while the nearby Tuolumne River offers fishing and wading opportunities. The town of Groveland, 12 miles west, provides shopping and additional services. This rustic campground sits adjacent to Highway 120 on native surface and gravel roads. Visitors should be aware they are in the Rim Fire burn area, where weakened trees and potential hazards exist. Pets are welcome but must comply with Tuolumne County leash laws.
Directions
From Groveland, take State Highway 120 east for 12 miles. The campground is just east of the Groveland Ranger District Office.
