About
Lost Claim Campground sits at 3,100 feet elevation in a shaded mixed conifer forest adjacent to Highway 120, making it an ideal base camp for exploring both Yosemite National Park and the wilderness areas of the Stanislaus National Forest. The campground is located 15 miles from Yosemite's northwest entrance and 12 miles east of the town of Groveland. The 10 rustic sites each include a picnic table, bear-proof food storage box, and campfire pit with grill. Vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump serve the campground. Sites 1, 7, and 8 can accommodate tent trailers, but the campground is generally not recommended for RVs or larger trailers. The Little Golden Forest Trail offers a half-mile interpretive loop nearby, and the Tuolumne River is a short drive away for fishing and wading. Visitors should use caution in this area affected by the Rim Fire. Potential hazards include loose rocks, weakened trees, flash floods, and debris flows. Avoid the area during high winds or heavy rain, and stay alert for falling objects.
Directions
From Groveland, take State Highway 120 east for 12 miles. The campground is just east of the Groveland Ranger District Office.
