Hemlock Meadows Campground

Hemlock Meadows Campground provides a unique combination of isolation and amenities, with ample access to nearby wilderness areas and scenic destinations. The four campsites form the south edge of Yellowjacket Glade, a roadless area known for its populations of elk, sooty grouse, black bear, and black-tailed deer. Hemlock Lake, a 28-acre man-made reservoir reaching 33 feet at its deepest point, offers fishing and swimming opportunities. Visitors can use a boat launch with its own parking located at the edge of the campground, though only non-motorized boats are permitted on the lake. The Yellow Jacket Loop Trail passes through high elevation timber and alpine meadows abundant with wildflowers in the spring. This first-come, first-served campground operates at a more primitive level with vault toilets and no potable water. Visitors must treat or filter water from nearby sources and pack out all trash, as no garbage services are provided. Maximum vehicle length is 35 feet, and the campground is limited to a 14-day stay.

Directions

From Roseburg, turn onto OR-138 east/northeast for approximately 16 miles. Turn right onto Little River Road/Forest Road 17 and continue for 32 miles to Hemlock Meadows Campground, located 0.5 mile around the east arm of Hemlock Lake.
