About

Hawkins Reservoir Campground is a Bureau of Land Management facility offering free primitive camping in southeastern Idaho. The campground features 10 developed campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. Situated adjacent to Hawkins Reservoir, the site provides excellent opportunities for fishing and non-motorized boating, with a boat ramp and dock on-site. The campground is equipped with two vault toilets, two parking lots, picnic tables at each site, and shelters. Access to both BLM and Forest Service OHV trails makes this a popular destination for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts. The reservoir fills a natural basin, creating a scenic setting surrounded by rugged terrain. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions. There are no dumpsters on-site, so all trash must be packed out. Campground rules and regulations are posted at the site. Winter access can be challenging depending on weather and road conditions. The campground is located approximately 8 miles west of Virginia, Idaho on West Hawkins Road.

Directions

From Virginia, Idaho, travel west on Hawkins Road for approximately 8 miles to the campground.
