Closed — Closed for the season. Aufderheide Drive is not maintained for winter snow and ice. The campground typically operates seasonally from late spring through fall, depending on snow conditions and road access.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products
This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.

Portion of Forest Service Road 1003 (Tom Creek Road) closed
A portion of Forest Service Road 1003, also known as Tom Creek Road, is closed. The road closure starts at the junction of FSR 10 and FSR 1003 and includes the first 4.1 miles of FSR 1003 to the junction with the 1003-416 and 1003-409 roads.
Sno-park Permits required Nov. 1 to Apr. 30
Sno-Park Permits are required to park in designated sno-parks from November 1 through April 30. Sno-Park Permits are managed by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

About
Hard Rock Campground is a small, primitive group site located along the South Fork of the McKenzie River in the Willamette National Forest. Situated just south of Cougar Reservoir at an elevation of 1,800 feet, this campground offers a quiet, secluded camping experience in the lush mountain landscapes of the western Cascade slopes. The single tent-only group site can accommodate up to 10 people and 5 vehicles, making it ideal for small groups seeking a peaceful riverside retreat. The campground provides basic amenities including campfire rings, picnic tables, and portable toilets with trash collection service. No drinking water or electricity is available, so campers must come prepared. The South Fork of the McKenzie River offers excellent catch-and-release fishing for wild redside and cutthroat trout. Nearby Cougar Reservoir is open to motorized boating and provides additional recreational opportunities. The surrounding area features numerous hiking and mountain biking trails. The Castle Rock Trail, located just east of Cougar Reservoir, leads through dense Douglas-fir forest to Castle Rock's summit, rewarding hikers with impressive views of the McKenzie River Valley. The campground is accessed via the scenic Aufderheide Drive (Forest Service Road 19), part of the 220-mile West Cascades Scenic Byway. This remote location offers visitors a chance to experience the beauty of Oregon's Cascade Mountains away from more developed areas.
Directions
From Blue River, travel 4 miles east on Highway 126 to Aufderheide Drive (Forest Service Road 19). Turn right and continue south about 3/4 mile. Veer right at the Y and continue 10 miles to the campground.
