Hanna Campground
Walk-in tent sites are open year-round. RV and trailer sites open mid-May through Labor Day weekend. Potable water is unavailable October 1 through May 15. All sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations available.
Wheeled Vehicles in Wilderness
This order describes the prohibition of wheeled vehicles in all National Forest Wilderness Areas of the Rocky Mountain Region and any exceptions thereof.

The purpose of this Order is to prevent the introduction or spread of noxious weeds.
Cave Closure and Restrictions
The purpose of this Order is to reduce the spread of the fungus that causes White nose syndrome and to protect bat species during critical biological periods.
About
Hanna Campground is located within the Spearfish Canyon management area of Black Hills National Forest, though not directly in the canyon proper. The campground occupies a scenic meadow bordered by pine-covered mountains and sits adjacent to the spruce-lined east Spearfish Creek, offering a peaceful camping experience. The campground features 13 sites during regular season: seven drive-through sites and six walk-in tent-only sites. All sites include a picnic table and fire grill. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump (seasonal). No hookups are available. Limited groceries and gas can be found at Cheyenne Crossing, just north of the campground. The Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway begins north of the campground at State Rt. 14A, providing access to one of the Black Hills' most scenic drives. The nearby Hanna Nature Trailhead offers additional hiking opportunities.
Directions
From Lead, South Dakota, travel south on US Highway 85 for approximately eight miles past the intersection of Cheyenne Crossing and US Highway 14A. Turn left (south) onto Forest Service Road 196 and travel about two miles to the campground entrance.
