The Topaz timber sale near Sturgis, SD continues operations.Tethered fuels reduction (a steep slope logging/fuels treatment system that uses equipment tethered to steel cables) is being utilized to perform chipping and mastication operations. These operations cause flying debris.

Order 015 - Road Use Regulations - Forest Development
Code of Federal Regulations, the following acts are prohibited on all Forest Development Roads under the jurisdiction of the Black Hills National Forest:

Strawberry Recreation Site offers a convenient break from highway travel with both day-use and overnight tent camping opportunities in the Black Hills National Forest. Located about 5 miles south of the historic towns of Lead and Deadwood along US Highway 385, this compact recreation area features 4 designated tent camping sites among its 5 picnic sites. The site includes a small pond with accessible fishing platforms connected by paved sidewalks, making it suitable for visitors of various mobility levels. The campground is operated by Forest Recreation Management, Inc., the Forest Service concessionaire, and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available. While vault toilets are provided, campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available on-site. The light usage level makes this a quiet spot for a quick overnight stay or day excursion in the northern Black Hills.

From Lead or Deadwood, travel south on US Highway 385 for approximately 5 miles. The recreation site is located off the highway.
