Roubaix Lake

Closed — Loop C is open year-round for first-come, first-served camping at $15 per night during the off-season. Loops A and B close September 30 annually. No water or maintenance services provided in winter; the Forest Service does not plow snow.

The Topaz timber sale near Sturgis, SD continues operations.Tethered fuels reduction (a steep slope logging/fuels treatment system that uses equipment tethered to steel cables) is being utilized to perform chipping and mastication operations.  These operations cause flying debris.

About

Roubaix Lake Campground is tucked into a grove of Ponderosa pines along its namesake lake in the Northern Hills Ranger District of Black Hills National Forest. At an elevation of 5,500 feet, this campground offers a comfortable retreat on hot summer days with reliably cool evenings. The 54 campsites are dispersed among four loops, with many sites offering scenic lake views and spacing that provides excellent privacy. The campground's location next to Roubaix Lake makes it ideal for swimming at the popular beach, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for brook and rainbow trout. No motorized boats are permitted on the lake, maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. Horseback riders, mountain bikers, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts can access a 1-mile multi-use trail that connects to a larger network of trails in the area. The campground is conveniently located along Highway 385, providing easy access to nearby attractions including the historic town of Deadwood and Mount Rushmore. Campers staying at Roubaix Campground have free access to the adjacent day-use area, swim beach, and picnic facilities. The campground's secluded setting in the pine forest, combined with the small lake bordered by pines, creates a tranquil base camp for exploring the varied landscape of the Black Hills.

Directions

Approximately 13 miles south of Deadwood on US Highway 385. Turn west onto Forest Road 255 and travel one mile to the campground on the north side of Roubaix Lake.
