Gunner Pool Campground

About

Gunner Pool Recreation Area offers 27 first-come, first-served campsites nestled along North Sylamore Creek in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. The campsites are shady and private, each equipped with a grill, picnic table, lantern pole, and tent pad. Vault toilets are available, and seasonal potable water from a hand pump is typically provided from April through November. No electrical or water hookups are available at individual sites. The campground lies within the Sylamore Wildlife Management Area, where hunting for whitetail deer, wild turkey, black bear, and squirrel is permitted in season outside developed recreation areas. The Sylamore Hiking Trail is accessible from a trailhead within the campground, offering opportunities for day hikes or backpacking. Blanchard Springs Caverns is located just minutes away. The White and Buffalo Rivers border the east and west sides of the district, providing excellent float fishing and canoeing. Access to Gunner Pool is via a steep, winding dirt road (Forest Service Road 1102) that is not recommended for large RVs or trailers.

From Mountain View, go 6 miles north on Highway 5, take Arkansas 14 west for 14.2 miles, then turn right on Forest Service Road 1102 (gravel) for 3 miles. The access road is steep and winding, not recommended for large RVs or trailers.
