Gulf State Park Campground is located along the shore of Middle Lake in Gulf Shores, Alabama, just 1.5 miles from the white-sand beaches of the Gulf Coast. The main campground features 496 full-hookup improved campsites with paved pads ranging from 45 to 65 feet in length, accommodating both back-in and pull-through configurations. Eight primitive tent-only sites are also available for those seeking a simpler experience. Tents are welcome on all sites throughout the campground. The park's newer RV Resort offers 104 premium full-hookup sites with concrete patios, up to 50-amp electric service, fire pits, and pedestal grills at each site. Resort guests enjoy exclusive amenities including a saltwater swimming pool with splash pad, clubhouse with kitchen facilities, pickleball courts, putting green, and playground. Modern bathhouses with private shower suites serve the resort area. The main campground features 11 air-conditioned bathhouses with handicap-accessible showers distributed throughout, along with laundry facilities. A camp store adjacent to the Nature Center stocks food, beverages, camping supplies, firewood, and Gulf State Park souvenirs. Additional amenities include a swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts, horseshoe and volleyball courts, and direct access to 28 miles of paved trails connecting the park's natural areas. Wildlife is abundant, including alligators and snakes, so visitors should remain alert.
