About

Blackwater River State Park Campground provides an immersive experience in one of Florida's most pristine natural settings. The campground features 30 sites divided into two loops, Magnolia Loop and another, nestled among towering longleaf pines, magnolia trees, and Atlantic white cedar. Sites range from fully shaded to sunny and are spacious gravel pads with full hookups including 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service, potable water, and sewer connections. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The Blackwater River, designated a Florida Canoe Trail, flows through the park with transparent golden-brown water tinted by natural tannins. Despite its name, the water is crystal clear when viewed against brilliant white sandbars. Most of the river flows through undeveloped lands of Blackwater State Forest and the park, forming the core of the largest contiguous longleaf pine/wiregrass ecosystem remaining in the world. The river's sandy bottom, white beaches, and gentle 2-3 mph current make it ideal for swimming, paddling, and tubing. The Juniper Lake Trail provides a short walk from the campground to river access. The park features nearly 4.5 miles of trails including the 1.75-mile Chain of Lakes Nature Trail through oxbow lakes and sandhill communities, where giant longleaf pines tower over wiregrass and turkey oak. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound with white-tailed deer, bobcats, wild turkeys, river otters, and diverse bird species including the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. A playground in the Magnolia Loop provides entertainment for families.
