About
Bear Lake Campground occupies a prime location on the shores of 107-acre Bear Lake within the 210,000-acre Blackwater River State Forest in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The campground offers 39 sites in total: 31 sites accommodate RVs or tents with electric (30/50 amp) and water hookups, while 8 tent-only sites provide water spigots only. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. A centrally located bathhouse provides flush restrooms and hot showers. The recreation area features a boat ramp for electric motors only, a fishing pier, and a fish cleaning station. A 6-mile mountain biking trail and hiking paths connect to the broader Blackwater trail system. The group dining hall with full kitchen can be reserved for gatherings. A campground host is on-site. Note that swimming is prohibited in Bear Lake. The surrounding state forest is the largest in Florida and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, birding, and photography. During hunting season, wearing fluorescent orange is recommended even though the immediate campground area is a non-hunting zone. Seniors 65+, active military, veterans, and 100% disabled individuals qualify for camping discounts.
