About
Krul Campground is located within the Krul Recreation Area in Blackwater River State Forest, approximately one hour northeast of Pensacola, Florida. The campground surrounds a 6.5-acre lake and provides 43 sites equipped with electric and water hookups suitable for RVs and tents. Facilities include a dump station, restrooms with showers, a swimming dock, and a pier. The recreation area is designated as a non-hunting zone year-round. Recreational opportunities include swimming in the lake, hiking, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, and photography. The Sweetwater Hiking Trail begins at the Krul parking lot and extends 1.3 miles to Bear Lake, with the first half-mile featuring an accessible boardwalk complete with a suspension bridge over Sweetwater Creek and a static display gristmill. Fishing is not permitted in Krul Lake. Alcohol is prohibited at this facility. Blackwater River State Forest encompasses over 210,000 acres and forms part of the largest remaining longleaf pine-wiregrass ecosystem in the world, in conjunction with Conecuh National Forest to the north and Eglin Air Force Base to the south. The forest is part of the Florida National Scenic Trail and the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, offering exceptional opportunities for nature study and outdoor recreation.
Directions
From Interstate 10 take Exit 22. Turn north on Avalon Boulevard and travel to Highway 90. Turn right onto Highway 90 and travel to Highway 87 (Stewart Street) at the Burger King. Turn left and travel 0.8 miles to Milton High School, then turn right onto Highway 191 (Munson Highway). Continue 19.5 miles to Highway 4. Turn right onto Highway 4 and travel 0.7 miles to the Krul sign. Follow the entrance road and turn left before the day use parking lot. At the next stop sign turn right to reach the campground.
