About
Greenbelt Campground offers an unexpected escape into nature just minutes from the nation's capital. This 172-site National Park Service campground is forested with a pleasant mix of pine, oak, and maple trees that create a colorful display each autumn, while mountain laurel blooms throughout the park in May. Still Creek flows through the property, where deer and chipmunks are commonly seen along 10 miles of hiking trails including the Perimeter, Azalea, Dogwood, and Blueberry Trails. The campground features paved roads and parking spurs suitable for both cars and RVs, though this is a primitive campground with no water or electrical hookups at individual sites. Normal facilities include flush toilets, drinking water, hot showers, and a dump station. Each campsite includes a picnic table and combination grill/campfire ring. Loop A is designated for youth, scout, and organized groups only. RV size is limited to 30 feet including tow vehicle in B Loop, with limited availability for vehicles up to 35 feet in D Loop. The location provides easy access to Washington, D.C.'s historic sites, Goddard Space Flight Center (3 miles), and the Greenbelt Metro Station (1.5 miles). The Sweetgum Picnic Area near the park entrance offers playground equipment and tables. Reservations are required year-round and must be made in advance through Recreation.gov, as payment is not accepted on-site. Quiet hours run from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., generators are permitted 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and alcohol is not allowed in the campground.
Directions
