Park Closures Due to Weather Conditions

The Accokeek Creek Boardwalk and National Colonial Farm will be closed today, February 12 due to weather conditions. Farmington Landing will remain open.

Lighthouse Area Closed

A section of Fort Washington Park, including the area around the Fort Washington Lighthouse and nearby sidewalks, will be closed from 12:00 a.m. on May 9, 2025, through 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2025.

Helicopter Training at Fort Washington Park – June 5

Visitors may see or hear low-flying helicopters in Fort Washington Park on June 5 during a scheduled training exercise; please follow all law enforcement direction on site.

Temporary Area Closure at Want Water Ruins from September 2 through September 30, 2025

The area around the Want Water Ruins near Harmony Hall, Fort Washington, MD will be closed from 7:00 am Tuesday, September 2, 2025, through 5:00 pm Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while the ruins are stabilized.

Perimeter Trail Closed

The section of the perimeter trail from the .8 mile marker to the 1.9 mile marker at Park Central Road is closed for repairs. This trail was closed under emergency conditions on July 22, 2025, and will remain closed until December 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

South Parking Lot of Greenbelt Park Closed to Vehicle Access

This area will be closed to vehicle access from 12:00 a.m. May 9, 2025, and continuing until September 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The area will remain available to pedestrians.
