About

Green River Reservoir State Park surrounds a 653-acre reservoir that has long been a destination for paddlers and campers seeking a primitive, quiet experience. The park protects 19 miles of undeveloped shoreline and is designated a quiet lake under Vermont's Use of Public Waters Rules, meaning only electric motors at 5 mph or less and human-powered watercraft are permitted. There are no boat rentals at the park; visitors must bring their own canoe or kayak or rent from outfitters in nearby Morrisville or Stowe. The 27 remote tent sites are spread along the shoreline and can only be reached by paddling, with some sites a mile or two from the launch area. Each site includes a fire ring and a privy, but there is no potable water anywhere in the park, so campers must bring their own supply. Site capacity varies based on each site's characteristics. Two group sites can accommodate up to 12 people each. An ADA-accessible boardwalk leads from the parking area to the boat launch. Parking is extremely limited and first-come, first-served. Firewood is available for purchase at the park.

Directions

From the junction of VT Route 100 and VT Route 12 in Morrisville, briefly follow Route 12 South to Route 15A. Follow Route 15A to Route 15 East and turn right. Take the first left onto Garfield Road and follow it 3.1 miles to the yield sign, then turn right (still Garfield Road). Take your next immediate left onto Green River Dam Road and follow it 1.3 miles to the park entrance.
