About

Crystal Lake State Park sits at the northwestern end of Crystal Lake in Barton, Vermont, within the scenic Northeast Kingdom region. This 16-acre day-use park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and completed in 1942, earning a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The centerpiece is a striking granite bathhouse featuring partly Modern design with rusticated stone, housing restrooms, changing areas, and a concession stand. The park offers nearly a mile of sandy shoreline with a marked swimming area, making it a popular summer destination. Facilities include approximately 80 picnic tables scattered throughout the grounds, around 40 free-standing charcoal grills, play areas for children, and boat rentals including canoes. While there is no boat launch, personal boats are welcome on the lake. Overnight accommodations consist of a single lakefront cottage that sleeps up to six guests. The cottage includes one bedroom with a double bed and bunk bed set, a sleeper sofa, a complete kitchen with toaster, microwave, coffee maker, cookware and dishes, a bathroom with shower, electric heat, a front porch, and a canoe for guest use. The cottage is located within the village of Barton rather than a remote setting. A one-week minimum stay applies from June 15 through Labor Day, with a 3-night minimum before and after that period.
