About

Green River Campground is the main developed campground in Dinosaur National Monument, located along the Green River in a grove of Fremont cottonwood trees at an elevation of 4,750 feet. The campground sits on a bench above the river with views of the highly eroded Split Mountain rising to the north. The landscape mixes cottonwood shade with open sagebrush areas, and campsites vary from shaded to sunny exposures. The campground provides access to the monument's key attractions, including the Quarry Exhibit Hall approximately 5 miles away, where visitors can view over 1,500 dinosaur fossils that remain embedded in the rock face. The nearby Split Mountain Boat Ramp serves as the takeout point for multi-day whitewater rafting trips through the monument's canyons on the Green and Yampa Rivers. With 80 total campsites accommodating both tents and RVs, the campground is divided into three loops. Loops A and B offer reservable sites during peak season, while Loop C operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides flush toilets and potable water when open, though there are no showers, hookups, or dump stations. RV generators are prohibited from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Site 41 is wheelchair accessible with an adjacent accessible restroom.
