About

Clark Reservation State Park, located just south of Syracuse in Onondaga County, is a 377-acre geologic treasure formed during the last ice age. The park's centerpiece is Glacier Lake, a meromictic plunge basin created by glacial meltwater cascading over limestone cliffs. The lake's unique layered water chemistry supports unusual ecosystems and serves as a site for ongoing scientific research. Five hiking trails wind through the park's diverse habitats, including woodland, meadow, and wetland areas. The cliff trail offers dramatic 175-foot overlooks of the lake basin. The Nature Center, open seasonally from mid-May through Labor Day, provides exhibits on the park's geology and natural history along with weekend guided walks. This is a day-use only park with no overnight camping. Two pavilions are available for reservation from mid-May through Columbus Day, accommodating groups of 25 or 100 people. Other facilities include a playground and fishing access for pickerel, bullheads, and sunfish.
