Green Island Cabin offers guests a secluded lodging experience on the northwest side of Green Island between Gibbon Anchorage and Prince William Sound in the Chugach National Forest. This 16x20-foot wheelchair-accessible cabin accommodates up to 6 people and includes basic amenities: a table, oil stove for heating, wood stove, outhouse, and rainwater catchment barrel. The surrounding terrain features spruce and hemlock forest with boggy muskeg openings. Access to the cabin requires float plane (40 minutes from Cordova, 60 minutes from Seward) or boat (75 miles from Cordova, 70 miles from Whittier, 100 miles from Seward). Boaters should use caution and watch for uncharted rocks in this area. Visitors are responsible for their own travel arrangements and must bring their own supplies, including extra provisions for 2-5 days in case weather delays departure. The location provides year-round recreation including excellent fishing and hunting. Several creeks flow into the bay with pink salmon spawning in mid-July and coho arriving in August. Area lakes contain good-sized cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden, while nearby ocean waters offer halibut and rockfish. Sitka black-tailed deer hunting is available during a long season. Wildlife viewing opportunities include migratory waterfowl, deer, humpback and killer whales spouting offshore, sea otters, and other marine mammals. The Prince William Sound shoreline provides expansive views of surrounding mountains.
