About

Trumbull Lake Campground is a high-elevation retreat situated on the shores of its scenic 100-acre namesake lake in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. At 9,980 feet, the campground is surrounded by towering peaks and glacier-carved cirques, with dense lodgepole pine forest providing ample shade. Aspens and summer wildflowers dot the landscape. The campground offers 30 sites including single-family sites, several double sites, and one triple site. All sites are equipped with picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and bear boxes. Vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, and trash/recycling services are provided. A campground host is on-site and firewood is available for purchase. Trumbull Lake offers excellent canoeing and fishing for rainbow, brown, and brook trout. The nearby Virginia Lakes area provides additional recreation, and the Virginia Lake Trail offers hiking and horseback access into the adjacent Hoover Wilderness Area and Yosemite National Park. Black bears frequent the area, so all food must be stored in approved containers.

Directions

From Bridgeport, travel approximately 12 miles south on Highway 395. Turn right at Conway Summit onto Virginia Lakes Road. Continue approximately 6 miles; the campground is on the right side of the road.
