About

Green Canyon Campground occupies a scenic setting along the Wild and Scenic Salmon River in the Zigzag Ranger District of Mount Hood National Forest. The canyon location, carved by the river over time, features impressive old-growth forest that provides shade and a peaceful atmosphere for campers. Several hiking trails depart from the area, including routes into the adjacent Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. The river offers fishing opportunities during summer months, though anglers should consult Oregon fishing regulations for specific rules governing the Salmon River. The campground also includes a day-use area. The campground is operated by Alaska Recreational Management, a Forest Service concessionaire. Interagency Senior, Access, Golden Age, and Golden Access passes provide a 50% discount on single site camping fees. Campers should be prepared to pay with cash or check.
