About

Camp Creek Campground occupies a quiet, shaded bench above Camp Creek in Oregon's Mount Hood National Forest, roughly 32 miles east of Portland on Highway 26. At approximately 2,200 feet elevation, the campground sits within a mature forest of Douglas fir and western red cedar draped in moss. The Civilian Conservation Corps built the facility in 1936, and several original stone fireplaces remain as historic features. The campground offers approximately 24 single and double-occupancy sites suitable for tents and smaller RVs (22 feet maximum). Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are available and wheelchair accessible. Potable water availability varies seasonally; check current conditions before arriving. Recreation abounds in the surrounding area. The 1.6-mile Still Creek Trail provides a family-friendly hike through lush vegetation, while the Pioneer Bridle Trail offers roughly 10 miles of terrain open to hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The nearby Zigzag River and Camp Creek support catch-and-release fishing for trout and whitefish. The town of Rhododendron, about 3 miles west, provides supplies and services.
