About

Graham Cave State Park Campground sits in the rolling hills of Montgomery County, offering campers a peaceful wooded retreat with easy access to one of Missouri's most significant archaeological sites. The campground features both basic and electric campsites, each equipped with a parking pad, picnic table, grill, and lantern post. Modern restrooms with hot showers and laundry facilities operate from April through October, while vault toilets remain available year-round. The park's centerpiece is Graham Cave, named after Robert Graham who purchased the property in 1847. Archaeological excavations revealed that Native Americans occupied the cave 8,000 to 10,000 years ago during the Dalton and Archaic periods, making it the first archaeological site in the United States designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Interpretive trails lead visitors to the cave and through the 82-acre Graham Cave Glades Natural Area. A boat ramp on the Loutre River provides access for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, with bass, bluegill, and catfish commonly caught. The park also features hiking trails, picnic shelters, a playground, and a visitor center showcasing the area's natural and cultural history.
