About

Lakeside Campground is a seasonal facility operated by the Tahoe National Forest on the picturesque Prosser Reservoir, approximately four miles north of Truckee via Highway 89. The campground features 30 single-family sites arranged in an open area with scattered lodgepole pine and fir trees. Site conditions vary from full sun to limited shade, and many sites offer views of the reservoir and the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. Prosser Reservoir is popular for canoeing, swimming, and fishing. Power boating is permitted but restricted to a 10-mph speed limit. A boat ramp is available about one mile south at Prosser Ranch Group Campground. The area also offers extensive hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV opportunities. The Prosser OHV staging area is approximately two miles west across Highway 89, providing access to the Prosser Hill Motorcycle Trail and Sagehen Hills OHV trail system. Each campsite includes a picnic table and campfire ring. Accessible vault toilets are provided. Firewood is available for purchase at the host site. Campers should bring their own drinking water, as potable water is not available at this facility.

Directions

From Interstate 80 in Truckee, take exit 188 onto Highway 89 north toward Sierraville. In approximately 3.5 miles, turn right at the sign for Prosser Recreation Sites. The campground entrance is on the left in about one mile.
