About
Lakeside Campground is situated on the picturesque northwest shore of Prosser Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest, just 10 minutes north of Truckee. The campground features 30 single-family campsites in an open area with scattered lodgepole pine and fir trees. Some sites have limited shade while others are in full sun, and many offer views of the reservoir and surrounding mountains. Water's edge sites may be available depending on reservoir levels. Prosser Reservoir is a popular destination for water recreation including canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing. Hand-off boat launching is possible directly from the campground depending on water levels, and a concrete boat ramp with trailer parking is located less than a mile away at Prosser Ranch Group Campground. Power boating is permitted but limited to 10-mph. Year-round fishing is available, with ice fishing possible in winter conditions. The surrounding area offers abundant recreational opportunities beyond water sports. The Commemorative Overland Emigrant Trail for hiking and mountain biking can be accessed directly from the campground. OHV enthusiasts can reach the Prosser OHV staging area approximately two miles west across Highway 89, providing access to Prosser Hill Motorcycle trail and the Prosser Hill and Sagehen Hills OHV trail systems. Designated OHV routes are accessible from the campground for ingress and egress only. Other nearby attractions include Boca Reservoir, Donner Camp Historic Site, Stampede Reservoir, and downtown Truckee with its restaurants, shops, and historic sites.
