About
Glover Campground is a small, rustic Forest Service campground located along the Selway River corridor in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Accessible via Forest Road 223 approximately 37 miles from Kooskia (22 miles east on US 12, then 15 miles southeast on FR 223), this campground sits off the main road in a quieter setting. The facility offers basic amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, and a stock ramp for equestrian visitors. The campground provides direct access to two trails: Roundtop Trail #705 and Glover Trail #704, making it an ideal base camp for hikers and horseback riders exploring the surrounding wilderness. The Selway River corridor is known for its extraordinary scenery, exceptional water quality, and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Anglers can find rainbow, cutthroat, bull, and eastern brook trout in the nearby Selway River, a designated Wild and Scenic River. Visitors should be prepared for primitive camping conditions. No drinking water is available on-site, so campers must bring their own supply. The access road (FR 223) is paved to O'Hara Creek Bridge but narrows to gravel beyond that point, with washboard conditions often present. Due to the campground's remote location and the characteristics of the access road, smaller RVs are recommended.
Directions
From Kooskia, travel east 22 miles on US Highway 12, then turn southeast on Forest Road 223 for 15 miles. The campground is off the main road. Forest Road 223 is paved to O'Hara Creek Bridge, then becomes gravel with possible washboard conditions.
