About

Selway Falls Campground is a remote, primitive camping destination located along Meadow Creek in Idaho's Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The campground features 7 individual campsites and serves as a key access point for whitewater enthusiasts, with a boat put-in situated below Selway Falls. From here, paddlers can float the Wild and Scenic section of the Selway River downstream to Lowell, navigating challenging Class IV rapids. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets, but no potable water is available, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The facility can accommodate RVs and trailers under 30 feet in length. Access requires a scenic but lengthy drive: 24 miles east of Kooskia on US Highway 12, then approximately 20 miles southeast on Forest Road 223. The surrounding Selway River Corridor offers exceptional opportunities for fishing, wildlife viewing, and experiencing the rugged backcountry of central Idaho. The area is known for its pristine wilderness character and challenging whitewater.
