Boyd Creek Campground

Closed — Closed for winter. Access is limited seasonally due to snow on Forest Road 223. The campground typically operates from late spring through September 30, when fee collection ends. Visitors may use the campground in the off-season, but services such as restroom cleaning are not provided and road access may be difficult or impossible.

Boyd Creek Campground occupies a scenic location along the Selway Wild and Scenic River in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The small campground features five campsites with picnic areas and can accommodate RVs up to 30 feet in length. The setting provides direct access to the renowned Selway River, home to rainbow, cutthroat, bull, and eastern brook trout. Outdoor enthusiasts will find abundant recreational opportunities. The campground serves as one of two trailheads for the East Boyd Glover Roundtop National Recreation Trail, offering hiking access into rugged backcountry. The surrounding area is known for spectacular scenery, exceptional water quality, and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities within the Middle Fork Clearwater Wild and Scenic River corridor. The campground is located approximately 32 miles from Kooskia, requiring a drive along US Highway 12 followed by Forest Road 223, which penetrates deep into the remote Selway River corridor. This primitive setting offers a true backcountry camping experience for those seeking solitude and natural beauty in north-central Idaho.

Directions

From Kooskia, travel east 22 miles on US Highway 12, then turn southeast onto Forest Road 223 and continue approximately 10 miles to the campground.
