About
O'Hara Campground is the largest developed campground along the Selway River, offering 32 sites amid lush vegetation and towering old cedar trees. Situated in the heart of the Selway Wild and Scenic River Corridor in north central Idaho, the campground provides an ideal base for exploring one of Idaho's most pristine river corridors. Each site features a picnic table, campfire ring, and paved parking spur, with many sites designed to be accessible. The Selway River is renowned as a destination fly fishing experience for cutthroat and rainbow trout, and the whitewater rafting opportunities draw enthusiasts from across the region. Several trailheads accessible from Selway River Road lead into the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area, offering extensive hiking and mountain biking opportunities. The campground is located near the historic Fenn Ranger Station, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and provides easy access to the scenic 11-mile drive to Selway Falls. The campground no longer has an active water system, so campers must bring their own water or obtain it from Cedar Flat (1.5 miles away) or Johnson Bar Campground. Vault toilets and bear-resistant dumpsters are provided. The area is home to diverse wildlife and visitors should be aware that rattlesnakes populate the region. Cell phone reception is not available at the campground; the nearest reception is in Kooskia.
