About
Dinkey Campground is nestled along the banks of Dinkey Creek in the Sierra National Forest, surrounded by a thick forest of ponderosa pines and cedars. The campground's high country setting provides a scenic destination with streams, open space, and abundant shade. The facility features 127 individual campsites (both standard and tent-only) plus one group site that can accommodate up to 50 people. All sites include paved spurs, picnic tables, and fire grills, with accessible sites available throughout the campground. Recreational opportunities abound in the area. Dinkey Creek offers excellent fishing for brown and rainbow trout, while two popular swimming areas, The Slicks and Honeymoon Pool, feature pools carved out of granite. The Dinkey Creek Trail provides hiking access, and mountain bikers can explore numerous trails in the surrounding area. An on-site amphitheater hosts educational programs on summer weekends, with presentations covering topics like local history, constellations, wildflowers, and forestry. The campground is conveniently located near McKinley Grove, famous for its giant sequoias and located just 6 miles away. The Dinkey Creek Inn and Store offers a small grocery, fishing supplies, and a café serving breakfast and sandwiches. A campground host is on-site during the operating season, and the Dinkey Creek Ranger Station is nearby, open seven days a week from May through September.
