About

A Group Campground is situated in Sierra National Forest's High Sierra Ranger District at approximately 4,000 feet elevation. Despite its name suggesting overnight camping, this facility is designated as a day-use group picnic site rather than a traditional campground. The site lacks basic amenities including restrooms and potable water, making it unsuitable for extended stays. Located in the Central Sierra Nevada, the area provides access to the diverse terrain of Sierra National Forest, which ranges from oak-covered foothills to heavily forested middle elevation slopes. The site is managed by the High Sierra Ranger District office in Prather, California. Visitors should be aware that this is not a developed campground facility and does not offer the typical amenities found at established Forest Service campgrounds. The site's remote location and lack of facilities mean visitors must be fully self-sufficient. The surrounding Sierra National Forest offers numerous other camping options for those seeking overnight accommodations, including both developed campgrounds and dispersed camping areas throughout the forest's 1.3 million acres.
