About
Holton Creek River Camp is the second river camp along the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail between White Springs and Branford, located 7.6 miles downstream from Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. Nestled within the 2,500-acre Holton Creek Tract managed by the Suwannee River Water Management District, this remote camp sits on a curving stretch of the Suwannee River featuring dramatic white sandy beaches and limestone bluffs. The camp offers five screened wooden platforms that can each sleep eight people, equipped with electric lighting, fans, outlets, benches, and shelves. Each platform has its own picnic table, fire ring, and water spigot. Additional tent camping sites are available with access to all amenities. A covered pavilion with picnic tables and a grill provides shelter for meal preparation in rainy weather. The bathhouse features hot water showers, flush toilets, and an outdoor sink for cleaning dishes and cookware. Wheelbarrows are provided to help transport gear from the river to the camping area. The surrounding forest consists of hardwoods and cypress trees interspersed with sinkholes and swales typical of North Florida's karst landscape. The camp serves as an ideal base for exploring this section of the blackwater river, which is characterized by high limestone bluffs, white sandbars, and dark tannin-stained water. The area is part of the Florida Trail system and offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing, and experiencing one of Florida's most pristine river corridors.
