About

Fremont Bay Group Camp is located within Loop 1 on the western shore of Boysen Reservoir at Boysen State Park. This loop encompasses several small camping areas including South Muddy, Fremont Bay, Libby Point, and Sandy Hills Loop, offering approximately 20 campsites total with limited but functional facilities. The area provides direct access to the reservoir's western shoreline, making it ideal for groups interested in water-based recreation. The campground features a reservable group shelter suitable for gatherings, along with picnic shelters scattered throughout the area. While shade trees are limited, the site offers a sandy beach and boat launching area for easy water access. The setting is characteristic of the high desert landscape of central Wyoming, positioned at the southern end of the Owl Creek Mountains and the beginning of the Wind River Canyon. Boysen State Park surrounds the 19,560-acre Boysen Reservoir, created by a dam completed in 1951. The park is situated on the edge of the Wind River Indian Reservation, offering 76 miles of shoreline and diverse recreational opportunities. The Wind River, which flows north through the area, provides a unique geographical feature in this scenic and geologically interesting region of Wyoming.
