About
Fox Creek Cabin is a rustic 16x16-foot log cabin situated in the Resurrection Creek valley along the Resurrection Pass Trail on the Eastern Kenai Peninsula. Surrounded by spruce and birch forest with views of nearby mountains and meadows, the cabin offers a backcountry basecamp for exploring one of Alaska's most popular trails. The cabin sleeps up to 6 people and includes basic amenities: a table, wood stove for heat, splitting maul, crosscut saw, and an outhouse. Visitors must be self-sufficient and bring their own water, bedding, mattresses, cooking utensils, and firewood. Located 11.5 miles from the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead and 27 miles from the South Trailhead, Fox Creek Cabin is accessible year-round by non-motorized means including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. Snowmobiling is permitted on the trail from December 1 to April 30 every other winter season. The trail is closed to pack and saddle stock from April 1 to June 30, and closed to motorized vehicles from May 1 to November 30. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and hunting in season, with moose, black and brown bears, Dall sheep, mountain goats, caribou, and wolves inhabiting the forest. Berries ripen from mid-July through mid-September. Winter travelers should be prepared to evaluate avalanche and over-ice travel conditions. The last mile of road before the trailhead is not plowed in winter.
