About

Caribou Creek Cabin is a remote wilderness cabin on the Eastern Kenai Peninsula of south-central Alaska, situated along the renowned Resurrection Pass Trail. The rustic log structure offers bunk space for six with a maximum occupancy of eight people, equipped with a wood stove for heat, counter space, table, and benches. A splitting maul and hand saw are provided for gathering firewood. Access requires a 7-mile hike from the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead at milepost 4 of Resurrection Creek Road, or 31.8 miles from the South Trailhead at milepost 53.2 on Sterling Highway. In winter, add one extra mile as the road is not plowed to the trailhead. The trail is open to snowmobiles December 1 through April 30 in alternating winter seasons. Horse and pack stock are restricted April 1 through June 30. The area offers recreational gold panning along designated sections of the creek and big game hunting opportunities including moose, black and brown bears, Dall sheep, mountain goats, caribou, and wolves. Visitors must bring all supplies: sleeping bags, cook stove, food, and water treatment as there is no potable water. All garbage must be packed out.

Directions

From Hope Highway on the Kenai Peninsula: the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead is at milepost 4 of Resurrection Creek Road; hike 7 miles to the cabin. From the south, the Resurrection Pass South Trailhead is at milepost 53.2 on Sterling Highway; hike 31.8 miles. In winter, add one extra mile as Resurrection Creek Road is not plowed to the trailhead. Refer to USGS topographic map Seward D8.
