Romig Cabin sits on the southern shore of beautiful Juneau Lake, surrounded by willow and spruce with views of the surrounding mountains. This 16x16-foot log cabin sleeps six on bunks and accommodates a maximum of eight people. Inside you'll find a wood stove for heat, counter space, table, and benches. A splitting maul and crosscut saw are provided for cutting firewood from downed or dead standing trees. The cabin is located 9 miles from the Resurrection Pass South Trailhead at milepost 53.2 on Sterling Highway, or 29.8 miles from the North Trailhead. Access is by hiking, biking, skiing, horseback, snowmobile (Dec 1-Apr 30 in alternating winters), or floatplane. No vehicles can reach the cabin. A canoe with paddles is provided for exploring Juneau Lake and fishing for rainbow trout, whitefish, burbot, and grayling. Alaska fishing permits are required. Visitors must bring all water (or means to treat lake water), food, cooking equipment, sleeping bags and pads, as the cabin has no electricity, running water, mattresses, or cooking utensils. All garbage must be packed out.

Directions

From the Resurrection Pass South Trailhead at milepost 53.2 on Sterling Highway, hike 9 miles to the cabin. Alternatively, from the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead at milepost 4 on Resurrection Creek Road, hike 29.8 miles. The cabin can also be accessed by floatplane to Juneau Lake. The trail is closed to horses/pack stock April 1 through June 30.
