About

Coeur d'Alene Campground sits in a secluded valley in the Chugach National Forest, accessible via Palmer Creek Road near Hope, Alaska. This small, primitive campground offers 6 walk-in tent sites surrounded by spruce and hemlock forest with mountain views. The remote location provides a peaceful camping experience for those seeking solitude in Alaska's backcountry. The campground operates as a free, first-come-first-served site with no reservation system. Basic amenities include vault toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables at each site, but there is no potable water or trash service. Campers must be self-sufficient, bringing their own water and packing out all garbage. The 14-day stay limit applies. Access requires traveling narrow, loose gravel roads. From Hope Highway at Milepost 16.2, head south on Resurrection Creek Road for half a mile, then turn left onto Palmer Creek Road and travel six miles to the campground. The challenging access roads make this site unsuitable for large RVs or trailers. Bear activity is common in the area, and proper food storage in vehicles or provided lockers is essential.

Directions
