About
West Swan Lake Cabin sits in an open grove of cottonwood trees overlooking Swan Lake, surrounded by mountain views in the Chugach National Forest. This remote wilderness cabin on the Kenai Peninsula offers solitude and excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow trout, lake trout, Dolly Varden, and sockeye salmon. A rowboat with oars is provided. In season, the surrounding forest supports hunting for moose, black and brown bears, Dall sheep, mountain goats, caribou, and wolves. The 12x14-foot log cabin has bunks for six with a maximum occupancy of eight. Amenities include a wood stove for heating, counter space, table, benches, splitting maul, crosscut saw, and an outhouse. Visitors must bring their own water, food, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cook stove, cooking gear, and firewood. There is no electricity, potable water, mattresses, or bedding. Access requires a floatplane during ice-free seasons (30 minutes from Moose Pass, 15 minutes from Cooper Landing). Winter access is possible via snowmobile, hiking, or skiing when the lake is frozen, approximately 2 miles from the Resurrection Pass Trail. There is no trail access; cross-country travel in this area is very difficult.
