About

Foscue Creek Campground is a premier U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the forested lake shore of Demopolis Lake, the largest lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway. The campground offers 54 spacious, private campsites situated near or close to the water, with 49 sites featuring full hookups (electric, water, sewer) and 5 sites with electric and water only. Each site includes a picnic table, lantern holder, and fire ring with grill. The campground lies in Alabama's Black Belt region, south of the confluence of the Black Warrior and Tombigbee Rivers. This diverse area features dense conifer stands and rolling meadows with colorful wildflower displays. Demopolis Lake offers 10,000 acres of water to explore, making it excellent for boating, water skiing, and fishing. Anglers can fish for bass, crappie, bream, catfish, and other species from boat or shore. Facilities include two shower houses, a boat ramp, four group picnic shelters accommodating 25 to 80 people, and three playground areas. The mile-long Foscue Creek Nature Trail follows the shoreline with benches for wildlife viewing and tree identification markers. The region is also known for excellent hunting with plentiful game. Wildlife commonly spotted includes wood ducks, bald eagles, bluebirds, and various other species.

Directions

From Demopolis, drive three miles west on U.S. Highway 80, turn right at Maria Street. Go approximately two miles and merge left onto Lock and Dam Road, cross two sets of railroad tracks and park entrance at 1800 Lock and Dam Road will be on the right. Do not follow GPS directions via Jackson Street as it is not suitable for RV travel.
