About

Forkland Campground occupies a high point in a mixed pine-hardwood forest on the northern shore of Demopolis Lake in Alabama's Black Belt region. The lake spans 10,000 acres along the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway and provides a quiet retreat roughly equidistant from Demopolis and Tuscaloosa. Wood ducks, bald eagles, and bluebirds frequent the area. The campground offers 42 sites along the lakeshore, all with water hookups and 30- or 50-amp electric service. Sites 3-32 have concrete pads; sites 33-42 have gravel pads. A large bathhouse provides hot showers and flush restrooms, and a dump station is located nearby. Coin-operated laundry, a fish cleaning station, and a playground round out the facilities. Fishing is the primary draw. A boat ramp across from the gatehouse gives quick access to the lake for bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. A hiking trail with scenic overlooks of McConnico Creek and the Black Warrior River starts at the same area. A group shelter accommodating up to 50 people is available for day-use reservations.
