About
Fort Stevens State Park encompasses one of Oregon's most historically significant coastal locations and operates the state's largest campground. The park features over 480 campsites spread across multiple loops, including 174 full hookup sites (36 with pull-throughs), 302 electrical sites with water, tent sites, walk-in tent sites, cabins, and yurts. The campground provides modern amenities including flush restrooms, hot showers, and a dump station. The park's 4,300 acres offer diverse recreational opportunities beyond camping. Visitors can explore the historic Fort Stevens military installation, which defended the Columbia River from the Civil War through World War II. The park is home to the iconic Peter Iredale shipwreck on the beach, Coffenbury Lake for swimming and fishing, and miles of hiking and biking trails. The unique location provides access to both the Pacific Ocean beaches and the Columbia River. Fort Stevens is currently undergoing significant infrastructure improvements. Several southern loops (L, M, N, O, and C) along with cabins, yurts, and the South Lake restroom are closed through December 2025 for major utility upgrades including wastewater, water systems, electrical work, paving, and construction of a new restroom building. Despite these closures, the remaining campground loops remain open and available for reservations year-round.
