About

Fort Dummer State Park sits on 217 acres of mixed hardwood forest in the Connecticut River Valley, a few miles south of Brattleboro near the site of the first permanent European settlement in Vermont. The campground divides into two adjacent loops containing 50 tent/trailer sites and 10 three-sided lean-tos, all set among mature trees that provide good shade and privacy. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with grate. Two restroom buildings serve the camping area, both equipped with flush toilets and token-operated hot showers. Potable water is available from spigots throughout the campground. An RV dump station and large recycling bin are on site, though no electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at individual sites. The park offers three hiking trails of easy to moderate difficulty, including a path to a viewpoint overlooking the Connecticut River. A recreation field, horseshoe pit, volleyball court, and small picnic area round out the day-use facilities. Firewood and ice are sold at the campground.
