About

Erving State Forest campground is a 27-site camping area nestled in the woods of Central Massachusetts, situated on a hillside above the pristine waters of Laurel Lake. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, pedestal grill, and fire ring, providing the essentials for a comfortable camping experience in a natural setting. The forest encompasses approximately 4,000 acres and offers diverse recreational opportunities including swimming, fishing, and boating at the 51-acre Laurel Lake with its distinctive brick-lined lakeshore. Eight miles of hiking trails wind through forests of oak, maple, and hemlock, leading to scenic viewpoints. The trails were largely developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and offer experiences for various skill levels. The campground is designed primarily for tent camping, though smaller RVs can be accommodated at some sites. A special highlight of Erving State Forest is the mountain laurel bloom, which typically peaks in mid-June, creating spectacular displays throughout the forest. The facility also features a Nature Center at Laurel Lake and provides access to various trails including the Laurel Loop Trail. Located along the scenic Mohawk Trail in northern Massachusetts, the forest provides a peaceful retreat with well-maintained facilities and natural beauty.
