About
Ford's Well Campground sits on the south shore of Enid Lake in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, and is specifically designed for equestrian campers. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this 18-site campground, where each site includes a 70-foot paved RV pad with parking apron, full hookups (50-amp electric, water, and sewer), a charcoal grill, grill table, picnic table, lantern holder, fire ring, and hitching rail for horses. A horse shower station, mounting block, and horse waste deposit bin serve equestrian visitors.
Campground-wide amenities include an accessible shower house with flush toilets, a dump station, picnic shelter, playground, and six day-use picnic sites. The 20.8-mile Spyglass Hill Trail offers moderately hilly terrain with sandstone outcrops and scenic lake views for horseback riding, hiking, or mountain biking.
The Ford's Well Recreation Area carries historical significance as an early 1900s destination where visitors came to drink or bathe in therapeutic mineral waters from W.B. Ford's well. It also served as a way station on a major North Mississippi stagecoach route. Five interpretive buildings from that era remain on site, with guided tours available upon request.
