George P. Cossar State Park Campground is located on the shores of Enid Lake in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, five miles northeast of Oakland. The campground offers 76 developed sites across two loops: Yocona Ridge with 35 sites open year-round, and Jones Creek with 41 sites open June through September. All sites include picnic tables, grills, and full hookups with electric, water, and sewer. Two bathhouses provide hot showers, and a laundry facility is available in the Yocona Ridge loop. The park sits on 28,000-acre Enid Lake, known for producing the world record crappie at five pounds, three ounces. Anglers target bass, bream, crappie, and catfish year-round, though lake levels are lowered for flood control from July through December. Multiple boat ramps provide access for fishing and water skiing, with low-water ramps available during drawdown periods. Beyond water activities, the park features two 18-hole disc golf courses, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a three-mile nature trail through mixed pine and hardwood forest, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and an amphitheater. The park office sells fishing licenses and provides information on cabin rentals and group facilities.

Directions

From I-55, take the exit for Highway 32 heading east. Travel approximately 5 miles and turn left on County Road 170. Stay straight on County Road 170 for approximately 2.3 miles to the park entrance. Keep left at the fork, staying on County Road 170. Pass Jones Creek and Yocona Ridge campgrounds to reach the office.
